Turn your Salt Lab into a massage ritual

Turn your Salt Lab into a massage ritual - The Flower Crate

If you’re an avid user of Salt Lab, here’s another way to reap the benefits of this fantastic product — and one that feels a little more indulgent.

Instead of simply spraying the soles of your feet or your stomach at the end of the day, take a little more time and give your whole body a Salt Lab massage. And if you have a willing partner, then this is even more indulgent ;)

START BY liberally spraying the backs of your legs and your back with Salt Lab Magnesium Spray Oil. If you have an assistant, begin with your back and use a fine, non-fragranced body oil to massage it in. A perfect option is our Frankie Kawakawa Body Oil.

Take your time, working over the back and spending a little longer on those areas where you know you hold tension — shoulders, neck and lower back are often good places to start.

Once you've massaged the back, this is the perfect time to reach for the Salt Lab Magnesium Muscle Repair Cream. Work a little into those particularly tight or knotty spots, giving them some extra attention before moving on.

Once your back is done, cover yourself with a sheet and have your partner move onto each leg, working slowly from the foot up towards the thigh.

When the back and backs of your legs are finished, roll onto your back and spray the fronts of your legs and each arm with Salt Lab before repeating the massage with your body oil. Again, finish with a little Magnesium Muscle Repair Cream wherever you have those particularly tired or tight spots.

No assistant? No problem. It won't be quite as relaxing, but you can still give yourself a lovely treatment.

Start with your legs, liberally spraying each one and then slowly massaging from foot to thigh, working over both the front and back of each leg. You can then move onto your arms and anywhere else you can comfortably reach.

One little tip: although Salt Lab has that lovely oily quality, it isn't quite oily enough on its own to give you the smooth, flowing movement you want from a massage. Adding a little body oil makes all the difference.

I'd save this one for later in the day, when you have nowhere else to be and can properly switch off. Take your time, put the phone away, get warm and comfortable and let yourself drift off afterwards. It could be just the thing to set you up for a very good night's sleep.

And because every good ritual deserves a little something at the end…

Finish with a delicious warm cup of Mayde Drinking Chocolate or Chai Latte, get yourself cosy and enjoy the feeling of having properly looked after yourself.

Sometimes the best kind of self-care is simply slowing down long enough to do it properly.
