Founded in 2014 by a couple with deep roots in Madagascar, Made in Mada was born from a passion for sharing the country’s rich craft heritage with the world. With ancestral ties dating back to the late 19th century and over 25 years of life in Madagascar, the founders have a profound connection to the island’s people, traditions, and landscapes.

After relocating to Sydney, Australia, they sought to create sustainable work for Madagascan artisans while preserving traditional crochet and weaving techniques. Today, Made in Mada empowers skilled women to work in favourable conditions close to their homes and families, providing year-round income and fostering a community built on craftsmanship and care.

Each piece is handmade from sustainably sourced, all-natural raffia—fibres harvested from native palms that thrive in Madagascar’s tropical rainforests. Strong, pliable, and biodegradable, raffia lends itself beautifully to timeless bags and accessories that celebrate both form and function.

Now stocked in over 250 stores worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Japan, Spain, Greece, and the United Kingdom, Made in Mada blends Madagascan artistry with Australian influence and French heritage.
